Gary di Silvestri


Summary

Gary di Silvestri established a successful career in finance before shifting his focus to pursuing his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Today, he is a globally ranked Nordic skier. Slated to compete in the 2014 Sochi Olympics and the 2015 World Ski Championships, Gary di Silvestri will represent his native country of Dominica. He currently trains for both events with other members of the Dominica National XC Ski Team.

Excelling as an athlete in high school, Gary di Silvestri was named a top student-athlete in New York City for his achievements in football, wrestling, and the classroom at Monsignor Farrell High School on Staten Island. He went on to graduate magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a bachelor of arts and with honors from Columbia University, where he completed an MBA in 1993. Shortly afterwards, di Silvestri became one of the youngest Principals in the history of Credit Suisse First Boston.

Today, Gary di Silvestri serves as president of the National Ski Association of Dominica. As part of his training, he regularly competes in cross-country ski races; in 2012, he won 15-kilometer challenges at the Whistler Olympic Park Loppet and the Vancouver Island Loppet.
